Wii update/homebrew question?

Question: Wii update/homebrew question?

(Posted by: shadow_the_echinda on 2010-03-09 17:56:51)

Since my last thread was mostly ignored, let me ask this: if i uninstall and delete: Homebrew BootMii (should i still need this?) DVDX (even though i dont need this) can i freely update? (via Nintendo or Wii Game disc) right now i have a rental game that requires an update but im not sure if ill just end up semi/ fully Bricking my Console if i do (even though ive done some research and it states the a Wii would most likely Brick if you have the Wii Homebrew Channel installed, unless thats incorrect) also, are there any advantages of having BootMii installed on your Wii, with/ without the Homebrew Channel? p.s. i would really appreciate it if this was answered asap

I uninstalled BootMii, HBC, and DVDX2 before updating my Wii to 4.2 and it worked fine. You're Wii may brick if you leave them installed and you update your Wii through Nintendo. BootMii is very useful and has too many advantages not to have it. You can also do a safe update, but if you only have the HBC, BootMii and DVDX installed, then just go ahead and do the Ninty udpate.
